Lauren Cooney
Hi! My name is Lauren, and I am an Assistant Director of Creative Services for Video Production at Purdue University Athletics.
I graduated with a degree in journalism with a specialization in sports media and a concentration in psychology at the University of Florida. During my time at UF, I had the opportunity to volunteer with the University Athletic Association and the Florida Gators for three years with the creative video department.
With the UAA, I had the opportunity to shoot and edit for multiple sports, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, gymnastics, volleyball, swimming and diving, soccer and tennis.
I was also the lead for video creation for the men's and women's golf teams for their spring 2022 season and for the lacrosse team for its 2023 season. As the lead for these teams, I took on the responsibilities of traveling and creating content for them, along with attending weekly content meetings, organizing shoots and collaborating with the marketing, communications and social media staff.
Additionally, I anchored sports for WUFT News, as well as being a reporter for their digital content. I also spent one year as a news and features writer for Her Campus UFL and one year as an editor for the magazine.
I have also worked with NFL Films as a production assistant when they came to UF for a project along with the Wildcard Game in Jacksonville for the Jaguars. I was also a stage manager for SEC Now for the SEC Softball Tournament. These opportunities allowed me to grow, strengthen my skills and gain hands-on experience in sports production for television.
I have a passion for storytelling no matter the medium, but I have fallen in love with video creation. I really love the emotion and excitement that comes with sports, and I am so grateful to have a career in sports creative videography.
